About Thiruverkadu
Thiruverkadu is a temple town about 16 km west of central Chennai, known for the Devi Karumariamman temple and the Vedapureeswarar temple, a Shiva shrine sung in the Tevaram. As a municipality it took in seven revenue villages, among them Koladi, Ayanambakkam and Noombal, until the state's January 2025 order merged it into Avadi City Municipal Corporation. It has grown from a small village into one of the faster-growing residential areas on the city's western side, and new houses and apartment blocks are still being built.
