About Ayapakkam
Ayapakkam lies between the Ambattur Industrial Estate, Avadi and Thiruverkadu, and grew as a residential area after Tamil Nadu Housing Board quarters came up from 1990; the ICMR's National Institute of Epidemiology is in its housing-board colony. Its village panchayat is among those named in the January 2025 order for merger into Avadi City Municipal Corporation.
