Kattupakkam is on Mount–Poonamallee Road between Iyyappanthangal and Kumananchavadi, about a kilometre from the Iyyappanthangal bus depot, and has its own station on Chennai Metro Phase 2's Poonamallee–Porur–Vadapalani line.
