About Sembium
Sembium (Sembiam) lies just north of Perambur towards Moolakadai, and was the centre of the old Sembium panchayat board, whose villages, including Ayanavaram and Peravallur, were annexed to Madras city in 1946. An underground Sembiyam station is being built on the Metro Phase 2 Purple Line, and private work is house rebuilds, small apartment blocks and shop-cum-residence buildings on the main roads.
