About Seven Wells
Seven Wells, part of the old Peddanaickenpet beside Mint Street, is named after wells dug in the 18th century to pipe drinking water to Fort St George after the wells inside the Fort turned saline. It is a crowded quarter of homes and businesses, and the saint-poet Vallalar lived in a house on its Veerasamy Pillai Street.
