About Mandaveli
Mandaveli (Mandavelipakkam), whose name comes from the Tamil for an open ground where cattle herds grazed, is a mainly residential neighbourhood just south of Mylapore, between Santhome, Alwarpet and Raja Annamalaipuram, served by the Mandaveli MRTS station. Older houses here are being redeveloped into apartment buildings and some residential buildings have turned to business use. An underground Mandaiveli station is being built on the Metro Phase 2 Purple Line.
